Obituary

William F. McGrath, a 40 year resident of Stoughton, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday October 21, 2005 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was 72 years old. He was the beloved husband of Virginia A. (Parkin) McGrath of Stoughton.

Born December 21, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Daniel T. McGrath and Mary J. ( McConvey) McGrath.

Mr McGrath attended St. Peters Grammar School in Boston and was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School, also in Boston.

Mr. McGrath was a Pvt. with the United States Air Force during the Korean War Era.

He was employed by the Stoughton Post Office for a short time prior to starting his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the Stoughton Department of Public Works. He retired after eighteen years of service to the town.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton. He was also an Associate member of the Sons Of Italy in Stoughton.

His hobbies included: fishing, hunting, carpentry and shopping.

Besides his wife, he was the cherished step-father of Robert C. Nicholson of Stoughton, Marilyn M. Murguria of Stoughton, John E. Nicholson of Middleborough and William E. Nicholson of Plainville. His other survivors include a brother Charles McGrath of Raynham, a sister, Sister Katherine McGrath (Sisters Of Charity, Halifax, Nova Scotia), six step- grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also a brother to the late John “Jack” McGrath, Robert McGrath, James McGrath and Daniel McGrath.

His funeral will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday October 26, 2005 from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton followed by a Mass Of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27, Stoughton at 10:15 A.M. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans National Cemetery, in Bourne,MA.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday October 25, 2005 from 6-9 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charity of ones choice, in Bill’s memory, would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Sheehan Funeral Home, Stoughton.
