Almond D’Allessandro, age 95, passed away peacefully after a long life on December 18, 2017. Al was born, raised, and educated in Weymouth. He joined the Army in 1939 and when he returned home he met his wife, Rosemarie. They soon were married and settled in Brockton where they purchased Vanessa’s Sportswear Inc., a clothing company that Al and Rosemarie owned, operated, and expanded for 25 years. They enjoyed 13 years of retirement in FL before moving back to Al’s hometown of Weymouth where they have resided for many years. Al enjoyed golf, gardening, was an avid Red Sox Fan.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Rosemarie D’Allessandro (Bianco) of Weymouth, his loving children Elaine Fineman and her husband Bob of Stoughton, Sandra Thompson and her husband Paul of SC, and the late Peter D’Allessandro, and his cherished grandchildren Janna, Mollie, Jodi, Nicole, Max, Kristina, Craig, and Mark. Al is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, his sister Rita Smith, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the Funeral Mass for Al on December 26, 2017 at 10:30am in the Immaculate Conception Church located at 1203 Commercial St. Weymouth, MA 02189. The family will be receiving and greeting guests from 10-10:30am prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will immediately follow at the Bourne National Cemetery. Memorial observance for the Fineman family will be at their home on Wednesday and Thursday (December 27 and 28) from 1-4pm and from 6:30-8:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, VA Regional Office, JFK Bldg, Government Center Boston, MA 02203.
