Obituary

Alfred Edward Costa, 79, of Marion, formerly of Saugus died Tuesday December 19, 2017 at Sippican Health Care Center.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Edwin and Beatrice (Amaral) Costa, he lived in Watertown and Saugus for many years.
Mr. Costa was formerly employed as a licensed practical nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital and Sancta Maria Hospital in Cambridge.
Alfred served in the Army Reserves for many years and was ordered to active duty in 1991 in support of Operation Desert Shield. He was stationed in Washington, D.C., where he treated patients at Walter Reed Army Hospital.
He loved the companionship of his beloved cat, Frisky. He also enjoyed watching sports and the Boston Red Sox.
He is survived by two aunts, Alice Amaral and Elizabeth Amaral; and his cousins, Kathleen Lopes, Cheryl Joachim, Wayne Amaral, Richard Amaral, John Amaral, Donna Amaral, and Robin Amaral, and their families.
He was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Mariana and Frank Amaral, who raised him after the death of his mother at an early age.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday Dec. 23rd at 9:45 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
