Hazel Rowe Handley, 93, of Waycross, formerly of Enigma, passed gracefully into the loving arms of Jesus early Wednesday morning, December 20, 2017 at Baptist Village Nursing Home in Waycross. A graveside memorial service will be held for Mrs. Handley at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Handley was born May 5, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Charlie Rowe and Missouri Davis Rowe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Harrison Handley; her sisters, Orabelle Cox, Estelle Deas and Stella Pickard; and her brothers, Aubrey Rowe, Julian Rowe, Mallie Rowe and Emory Rowe. Hazel delighted in so many things. First and foremost, she loved her son, Terry. She looked forward, eagerly, to visiting with her grandchildren, Jason, Kristen and Carrie. She deeply treasured the times she was able to see her great-grandchildren, Ty, Blake, Van and Brynn. Hazel tended to her plants and flowers with great pleasure, as she did the feeders for the wildlife in her backyard. She had a way of making everything grow and flourish. She loved going to church and worshipping with her friends at Congregational Christian Church in Enigma.
Mrs. Handley is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Debbie Handley of Wake Forest, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Jason Handley and Kristen Handley, both of Raleigh, North Carolina and Carrie Wainright of Washington, North Carolina; her great-grandchildren, Ty and Van Handley of Raleigh, North Carolina and Blake and Brynn Wainwright of Washington, North Carolina.
