James J. Lally, 61, of Fairhaven died December 18, 2017 at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Dorchester, the son of the late Richard J. and Anna M. (Colfer) Lally, he lived in New Bedford most of his life before moving to Fairhaven in 2015.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.
Jim was employed as an accounting manager at Sanofi-Genzyme for 29 years and was looking forward to his retirement on Friday, December 22nd.
He enjoyed exploring brewerys in search of craft beers, doing yard work and spending time with his family. He was a longtime member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and was an avid New England Patriots fan.
Survivors include his significant other, Lee Allaire of Fairhaven; a daughter, Jocelyn Sarrantonio and her husband Tim of Niskayuna, NY; a son-in-law, David Gray of Bellingham; 2 brothers, Richard Lally and his wife Nancy of Acushnet, and John Lally and his wife Judy of Fairhaven; 2 sisters, Maureen Chace and her husband Bill of Franklin, TN, and Kathryn Freitas and her husband Dennis of Acushnet; 3 grandchildren, Pepper and twins Rosie and Maggie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Megan Lally.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, December 22nd at 10:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, New Bedford at 11:30 AM. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 21st from 4-8 PM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Megan Lally Memorial Fund, Inc., P.O.
