Obituary

STANDISH- “Nanny” Gail (Langley) Rich, 76 of Standish passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, friends and pets on December 16, 2017.
Gail was the daughter of Donald and Eva Langley of Standish and graduated from Standish High School in 1959.
She is survived by her siblings David Langley and his wife, Fumiko, Elaine Harris and Susan Langley, her children, step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gail was predeceased by her daughter Sandy Cragin, son in law Don Cragin in 2017, her sister Donna Nichols in 1968 and her parents Don and Eva Langley.
Together with her husband John L. Sullivan she raised a family of five, Cheri Estes, Sandy Cragin, Michael Sullivan, Marti Estes and Shannon Sullivan.
Gail and her second husband Richard Weir resided in Saugus, MA. They spent their weekends at camp on Sokokis Lake and traveled to Aruba on vacations for years.
She later married Joseph Rich and their time together was brief yet special. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, laughing, playing cards and taking mystery drives.
After losing Joe, Gail moved back to Standish so she could be closer to her family and promptly became the “hosta queen” of the neighborhood. She was an unbelievable gardener, an avid reader, a talented artist and a fantastic storyteller.
When Gail moved to Carroll Ave. she discovered an amazing little neighborhood and met her “second family “. She had many other dear friends including her beloved “Ya-Ya’s”, Rita Ells and Sally Shaw Childs.
Gail was a member of the Standish Congregational Church, the Grandiflora Garden Club, The Red Hat Society and was also on the board of Directors at the Center Memorial Clinic in Standish.
“Nanny” was a quick witted and hilariously funny spit-fire who made instant friends wherever she went. Loved by everyone, she was the life of every party and quick to laugh. Gail will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
The family thanks the VNA Home Health Hospice for providing guidance, assistance and compassion, especially Liz, our dear friend who Gail adored.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St. (Rt. 25) in Cornish on December 29th at 11:00am.
