Marion H. Cox, 87, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, died Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Hospice House in Savannah.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Pinetta Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Gerald Mallard officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 on Tuesday at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Cox was born September 21, 1930, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Osro Knight & Christine Herd Stegall. She worked as a nurse following her graduation from high school. After marriage, she was a homemaker for her husband and children. She was a devoted Army wife during her husband’s military career. She was a former resident of Tifton and Columbia County and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children: John T. Cox, Jr. & Esta of Augusta and Brenda J. Cox of Bloomingdale; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. “Jake” Cox, Sr.; a son, James Edward Cox, Sr.; and four sisters: Florence Hall, Joyce Griffin, Margie Naramore, and Patricia Kolwyck.
