Obituary



Mary (Von Euw) Colarusso, age 92, of Brockton, formerly of West Roxbury, entered into God’s rest peacefully surrounded by all of her children at Boston Medical Center on December 15, 2017. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred “Al” Colarusso, Sr.
Mary loved to sing, studied vocal performance at The Boston Conservatory of Music, and was a woman of great faith. She was a member of The New England Grand Opera Company, was in the 1947 and 1954 Production of Carmen, and performed many solo concerts at the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum in Boston. She was also a member of the Jubilate Chorale, Sacred Sounds, and Ireland’s Own Chorus. Mary was a member of the St. Edward’s and St. Edith Stein Church in Brockton for over 65 years, serving both as a communicant and soloist. She was also a member of the 3rd order Secular Franciscan at the Chapel of Our Savior in Brockton and spent over 40 years as a volunteer for Catholic Charities and The Charity Guild.

Mary and Al enjoyed singing and playing the piano together, spending summers on the Cape with their family on their boat, escaping New England winters in Southern Florida, and traveling the world together. During their almost 50 years of marriage, they had seven children Alfred Jr. of Middleboro, Ellen Brown of West Yarmouth, Kathleen Manley of Middleboro, Paul of Brockton, Charles of Brockton, Mary Clark of Avon, and Vincent of Brockton.

In addition to her children, she will be missed by her sister Eleanor DePasquale of Revere and her brother Reverend Vincent Von Euw of Dorchester and her 11 grandchildren Colleen, Christina, Allison, Hal, Nicole, Courtney, Daniel, Jacquelyn, Kaitlyn, Madalene and Tamina. She leaves her great-grandson Orion, daughters-in-law Mary, Lynn and Tamara, son in-law Daniel Clark and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4-8pm at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9am for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edith Stein Church at 10 am. Burial in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. Donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Chapel of Our Savior, 475 Westgate Drive, Brockton, MA 02301.
