Obituary


Alfonso Auciello passed away peacefully at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston on Saturday after a brief illness. He was 69. Born and raised in Villanova del Battista, Avellino, Italy, he came to the United States as a young man in 1964 and settled in Somerville. The son of the late Luigi and Pasqualina (Borrazzo) Alfonso married Maria Ippolito in 1970. They raised their family in Somerville. He was a hardworking man who was devoted to his family. He worked as a machinist and for the major part of his career, he tooled prosthetic devices for patients and eventually oversaw quality control of the product. He retired last year. He loved time with family and friends, especially with his grandchildren at the family beach house in Hampton New Hampshire.

The beloved husband of Maria (Ippolito) Auciello, he leaves his three sons: Lou Auciello and his wife Kathy of Danvers, Joe Auciello and his wife Leesa of North Reading and Frank Auciello and his wife Nadia of North Reading. He was a loving grandfather to Lauren, Sabrina, Giuliana, Nico, Gino, Aria, Antonio and Audrina. He was a Dear brother to Brigida Gelormini and her late husband Giuseppe, Rocco Auciello and his wife Lucia of Florida, Carmen Auciello and his wife Teresa of Stoneham and Mario Auciello and his wife Gracie of Wilmington. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, December 19 from 4 – 8 PM and again on Wednesday morning at 10 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
