Obituary

James J. "Jay" Biggins, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his home in Charlestown. He was 65 years of age.

Jay was born in Chelsea on February 20, 1952, a son of the late Luke Biggins and Rita (McLaughlin) Biggins. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from high school. Jay entered into the United States Navy on February 24, 1970 and served his country with pride and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on April 6, 1971 with the rank of Seaman Recruit. Jay worked as a warehouseman throughout his life. He enjoyed helping people and loved his neighborhood.

Jay is the beloved husband of 39 years to Deborah M. (McNamara) Biggins. He is the devoted father of Tammy McCormack and her husband Michael and Christina Biggins. He is the loving Grandpa of Ariana Arroyo, Emme McCormack and Jack McCormack. He is the beloved brother of Rita Sullivan, Catherine Irvin, Luke Biggins, Paul Biggins, Patricia Mello, Alice Buckley, Janet Hayes, Anne Marie McLaughlin and the late Stephen Biggins and Marianne McLaughlin. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jay's Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10 A.M. in the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown.. His burial will be at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 P.M. His visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
