Obituary

Lynne Ann Borden-Lopes passed away on December 14, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

Lynne was married to Thomas Lopes for over 30 years. She was the daughter of Harry and Virginia Borden of Attleboro, MA and Pocasset, MA. Lynne is survived by her husband, Tom; her daughter, Brianna Ortiz-Lopes; three grandchildren, Kyli, Ari, and Anthony Ortiz-Lopes; her sister, Virginia B. Landrigan and her husband Kevin; and her brother, Gregory J. Borden and his wife Mary.

Lynne grew up in Attleboro, MA. She attended Bishop Feehan High School, the University of Connecticut, and then earned her Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy at Wichita State University in Kansas. She returned and began her life-long service to the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the Department of Developmental Services, where she has served as the Assistant Area Director for the New Bedford Area DDS for the past five years. Lynne and Tom met in New Bedford and they moved to 488 Sconticut Neck Road in Fairhaven, where she loved the view of the ocean and caring for the hummingbirds on their back deck.

Lynne’s life was all about loving and caring for others. She was committed to those that DDS served. She was committed to her mother and father, particularly as they became ill in their final years. She loved her husband, her daughter and her grandchildren without end. She loved her sister and brother and their spouses, always being at the center of family gatherings to make things special. She loved and protected animals, and she loved and cared for her hummingbirds.

Lynne’s passing came far too soon and is a tremendous loss to her family, friends and those that she touched throughout her life.

Her Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 2-5 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Should you wish to add to her legacy of serving others, please make a donation in her name to the Fall River Deaconess School, P.O. Box 2118, Fall River, MA, 02722.
