Henry E. Lavoie, 91, of Beverly, passed away with his family by his side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Friday, December 15, 2017. He was the husband of the late Lucille M. (Dube) Lavoie.
Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Ledger and Eva (St. Amand) Lavoie. Henry first worked in the Boston Navy Ship Yard, prior to his joining the Marine Corps during World War II. He served in the South Pacific and was awarded several Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star for valor. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and worked as a watch and clock repairer first for J. Richard Jeweler and for many years for the former Bernard’s Jewelers of Salem. He retired from Saccon Jewelers. Henry was a Life Member of the VFW and the DAV.
He is survived by his five children, Priscilla Lavoie of Salem, John Lavoie of California, and Helen Abraham and husband, Robert of Salem, Janine St. Amand and husband Henry of Beverly and Paul Lavoie of Beverly. He also leaves four grandchildren, Michael Abraham, Deanna Talbot and husband Jason, Henry Cribb and Stefan St. Amand as well as two great-grandchildren.
