Mahar, Gail Marie (Dawson)
KENNEBUNK- Gail Marie Mahar (Dawson), 65, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at her home in Kennebunk, surrounded by family on December 13, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Gail was born on October 29, 1952, in Rumford, Maine to Robert and Anne (McKenna) Dawson and was a 1971 graduate of Mexico High School. Gail married the love of her life, Michael Mahar, on October 20, 1973.
Employed by William Arthur for nearly 20 years, she was happiest spending time with family, visiting “camp” on Concord Pond in Woodstock, Maine, and exploring Maine’s waterways by kayak with her husband.
Gail is lovingly remembered by many, including her husband, Michael; son Shawn and his wife Bethany of Kingfield, Maine; daughter Sarah (Yerxa) and her husband Chris of Alexandria, Virginia; brother Mark (Dawson) and his wife Cindy of Roxbury, Maine; granddaughters Addison and Ayla; and grandson Sullivan. Gail’s mother, Anne Dawson, passed away the evening of December 12, 2017. Gail was also predeceased by her father, sister and brother.
The family would like to thank the New England Cancer Center, Hospice of Southern Maine, and New England Life Care for the amazing and unwavering support.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, in Rumford, Maine.
