Obituary

CHICOPEE – Rene A. Roy, 77, of Chicopee, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Wingate of South Hadley with his beloved wife and loving family by his side. He was born in Holyoke on June 9, 1940, a beloved son of the late Wilfred and Aurore (Giroux) Roy. He was raised in Holyoke and had lived on Gladu Avenue in the Fairview section of Chicopee for many years. In his younger years, he was employed as a master mechanic and service manager. He started his career at Leader Chevrolet and later worked at Hampden Dodge, Topor Motors and Curry Honda. His life was an adventure with his beloved wife and they enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean Islands and many Sandals Resorts up until late last year. He loved the Island of Saint Lucia and was intrigued by the aqua blue waters of the Bahamas. A very giving person, Rene was a strong man who loved his family and friends and he could fix just about anything. His family was of greatest importance to him. He endured many years of medical problems but overcame them. These past few months were quite a battle for him. He desired to come home and be in his familiar surroundings, however, that did not happen. He went Home to be with God in Heaven. He leaves a legacy of a man of few words but love for all who knew him. His family and friends will keep his memory in their hearts and remember all the wonderful memories that they shared with him. May the Good Lord keep him in His loving arms and carry him to peace at last. God bless everyone for knowing such a wonderful man. No words can express the sadness of his passing. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Linda J. (Lempart) Roy. They were married on October 29, 1992 in Chicopee and were blessed with over 25 years of happiness together.
