Dr. Douglas Milton Jackson, age 81, entered into rest on December 10, 2017 at Richland Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 19, 1936 to Howard Thomas and Myrtle Jackson in Prosser, Washington, where he was raised and graduated from Prosser High School. He attended Washington State University where he received a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine followed by a two year internship in Moses Lake. He returned to Prosser in 1966 and started his practice, specializing in large animals. He retired in 2004.
Doug enjoyed traveling and raising draft horses. He was a lifelong member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Prosser and the Elks in Sunnyside.
Doug is survived by his son, Brian Jackson of Portland, Oregon; his daughter, Jennifer Crum of Seattle; and lifelong friends, Liz Dunn (Randy) of Richland; grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Jackson of Pocatello, Idaho and Brandie Nicole White of Richland; and great-grandchildren, Reid Owen White and Paisley Nicole White. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Jackson in 1999 and brothers, Dean and Dick Jackson.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Prosser Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the WSU Veterinary Scholarship Fund.
