Obituary

CORRIGAN, Patrick James of Philadelphia, formerly of Wellesley, MA, December 11, 2017. He is survived by his beloved family; his wife, Devon Elizabeth Corrigan, M.D., of Philadelphia, PA; his parents, Patricia Noyes Corrigan, of Boston MA and Ernest J. Corrigan, of Boston, MA; his sister, Alyssa Virginia Corrigan, of Cambridge, MA; and his two brothers, Devin Ernest Corrigan and Michael Douglas Corrigan, both of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by his grandmother, Virginia Noyes, of East Dennis, MA, many aunts and uncles, and 28 first cousins. He was devoted to his dog, Calvin, and his family’s dog, Hobbes.

Patrick attended St. John the Evangelist School in Wellesley, MA, Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA, and then graduated from Tufts University. He earned his Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a rising architect in Philadelphia for residential and commercial projects in Philadelphia, Boston and Detroit.

A passionate weekend basketball player, Patrick was a pole vaulter in high school and after settling in Philadelphia participated in numerous half marathons and played summer softball with friends and colleagues. He was a music aficionado, played bass guitar, pursued his love of painting, and was devoted to his Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots.

Donations in Patrick’s memory may be made to the Floating Hospital for Children, where dedicated doctors and nurses saved his life 29 years ago: The Floating Hospital for Children, c/o the PICU, PO Box 231, 800 Washington St., Boston, MA 02111. Patrick led an annual pilgrimage to the Floating Hospital, bringing toys and gifts to children who could not get home for Christmas. Recently, a nurse who had cared for Patrick told him, “We will never forget you. You were our Christmas miracle.”

Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley on Sunday, December 17 from 2-5pm. Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Rd. Wellesley, on Monday at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
