George L. Willard Jr. of Wellesley, formerly of Somerville, born January 15, 1933, died on December 13, 2017. George was the beloved husband of Patricia M. (Hanlon) Willard for 61 years and the father of Mark and his wife Katherine of Northville, MI; Michael and his wife Bobbi of Corvallis, OR; Martin and his wife Shirley of Holliston; George L. III of Newton; John and his wife Pam of Westboro; Christopher and his wife Susan of Orlando, FL. He was also the proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Louise Hayward, Donald, Philip, David and John Willard. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
George was a veteran of the Korean War, an avid reader, a fantastic storyteller, and a kind and thoughtful man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St. (RT. 16) Wellesley on Tuesday Dec. 19 from 4-7pm. Funeral Service in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment with military honors following the service in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
