PORTER– Hugh Francis Phillips, age 81, passed away on December 12, 2017, at the log home he built over the last 20 years in Porter, Maine.
He was born in Denver, Colorado, a son of the late Frank and Marjorie Phillips. He joined the Marine Corps at a young age. Hugh held many positions during his 30-year military career, including C-130 Flight Engineer, Embassy Duty and led Marine detachments aboard ship achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant before retirement. He proudly served during many conflicts around the world earning Meritorious Commendation, Good Conduct, and RVN Cross of Gallantry medals. In 1961 Hugh married his sweetheart Cheryl and has been happily with her ever since. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Phillips, his children- Lynn Sellars, Patricia Snay and Kevin Phillips, his grandchildren- Megan Snay, Melanie Snay and Christopher Sellars, and great granddaughter Audrey Sellars, brothers Donald, Brian and Dave and Sister Judy Phillips.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Porter Village Cemetery, Porter, Maine on 17 July 2018.
