Obituary

Marjorie A. Donovan, of Woburn passed away peacefully with her family by her side, December 13, 2017, following a lengthy and courageous battle. She was 80 year of age. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Donovan and together they shared 47 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2006. Born in Woburn she was one of five children of the late John A. and Mary (McGurn) Doherty.

Raised in Winchester, Marjorie attended St. Charles School through her high school years. She took great pride in her membership with the Drum and Bugle Corp of Winchester when she was a young lady. Following her high school graduation she worked for several years with the New England Telephone Co. She also worked at the Woburn Daily Times Chronicle and as a substitute secretary with the Woburn Public Schools, and worked for a number of years with Poland Springs in Chelmsford. However, her main focus for many years was raising her five devoted sons and making sure that their needs were taken care of. Marjorie was a woman of strong faith and she was an active parishioner of St. Charles Church her entire life. Over the years she enjoyed traveling and vacationing, spending time at the beach with her family and friends. She also enjoyed her daily walks around Horn Pond and was always looking forward to her monthly get together with "The Club" her schoolgirl friends of over 30 years. Her greatest joy was her family and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her late husband and parents, Marjorie is sadly predeceased by her brothers, Paul and John Doherty. She is survived by her five devoted sons, Robert J. Donovan Jr. and Leslie Cotter, Kevin F. Donovan and Beth Carney, Timothy J. Donovan and Heather Barackman, Brian P. Donovan and his wife Susan, and Michael G. Donovan, all of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Carly and Jack Donovan and cherished sister of Mary Hayes of Billerica and Kathy Stallman of Idaho. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
