Obituary

FALL RIVER – Palmira “Luciana” (Botelho) Carvalho, age 83, passed away on December 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Sarah Brayton Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Alvaro D. Carvalho. Born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Gilda (Medeiros) Botelho. She was a devoted Catholic, an active charitable parishioner of St. Michael’s Parish and a member of the Holy Rosary Society. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Palmira is survived by her children David M. Carvalho (wife Ana) of Fall River, Alvaro A. Carvalho, Jr. of Somerset, Philomena C. Medeiros (husband Tony) of Swansea, Pamela Carvalho of Somerset and Rita Carvalho of Fall River; brothers Jose E., and Luciano Botelho and sister Connie Lavado. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Vanessa M. Medeiros, Jovani & Brianna Ross; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son João Luciano Carvalho and brother Almino Botelho.

Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Michael’s Church at 10 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Friday from 5-8 P.M.
