NEW BEDFDORD — Iva Mae Marchant, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at the Royal Taber Nursing Facility in New Bedford, MA. She is survived by several nephews, nieces, several grand-nephews and grand-nieces, and one great grand-niece. She is pre-deceased by her parents, a sister and three brothers.
A viewing will be held on December 16th, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 400 Cross Rd. North Dartmouth, MA. The funeral will be held an hour later, at 9:00 a.m. at the same location and date.
For most of her life, Iva was a hairdresser at the Cameo Beauty Shop on Brigham St. in New Bedford, where she worked for 55 years. She began her work there after graduating from Cosmetology school, and worked her way up to manager and finally, owner of the business. She retired 15 years ago following a stroke in both eyes.
Funeral arrangements are to be provided by Wilson Funeral Home. She will be interred in a family plot alongside her parents, Joseph Leo and Lottie Belle in Peckham West Cemetery in New Bedford on Monday, December 18th.
