Shirley M. (Wheeler) Hines 82, of Franklin, died peacefully, with family at her side, Monday December 11, 2017 following an illness. She was the beloved wife of Roger D. Hines, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born November 13, 1935 in Berlin, MA a daughter of the late Emerson W. and Ethel (Ross) Wheeler, she was a resident of Franklin since 1959.
Shirley was raised and educated in Berlin and Worcester and was a graduate of Worcester Trade School class of 1953. Until her retirement several years ago, she worked in the maintenance department for Glen Meadow Apartments in Franklin.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing golf, camping, spending time at the Franklin Senior Center and loved all animals. Shirley was a member of the Franklin Federated Church and sang in its choir.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Vickie M. Boyd of Medway, a brother Joseph Wheeler and his wife Carol of North Ft. Meyers, Florida, her nieces, nephews and her 4 legged faithful companions.
She was the sister of the late Virginia Harriman, Frances Bacon, Mabel Winship, Betty Bent and Emerson Wheeler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Saturday January 6, 2018 at 1PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Her interment at Union Street Cemetery, Franklin will be held at a later date.
A calling hour will be held Saturday Jan. 6th, from 12-1PM.
