Irene (Velozo) Rezendes, age 96, of Fall River, passed away on Friday December 8, 2017. She was the wife of the late John D. Rezendes, and daughter of the late John V. and Myra (Mello) Velozo. Irene was a Somerset High School graduate class of 1939, a receptionist for Dr. Harold Lechan, and activities director for Crestwood Nursing Home. She also enjoyed singing, sewing and making clothes for all those around her.
She is survived by her children; Robert J. Rezendes (wife Linda), Ronald J. Rezendes (companion Lisa Viera), and Elaine J. Dube, siblings; Myra Ferreira, and James Velozo, 13 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John J. Velozo Jr., Mary Leah Facchiano, Norma Pereira, Henry, Larry, and David Velozo, and mother in law of the late Alfred Dube.
Irene’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Catholic Memorial home for their exceptional care over the past few years.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. John of God Church at 10 A.M. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours on Monday from 4-8 P.M.
