Barbara A. (Wright) Davenport, 74, of Mansfield, MA, passed away at Tuft’s Medical Center on Saturday, December 9, 2017, with her devoted and beloved husband of 54 years, Richard L. Davenport, by her side.
She was born on June 23, 1943, in Boston, the daughter of Mansfield residents, John Henry and Doris (Cotter) Wright. Barbara graduated from Norwood High School in 1962 and moved to Mansfield in 1968.
She worked for the Mansfield Public School system in the Superintendent and Guidance offices at Mansfield High School for 20 years and then at the Roland Green Pre-School for 9 years before retiring in 2010.
Barbara had a passion and talent for arts and crafts, and she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. She also enjoyed excursions with her husband, Richard, to countless Arts and Crafts shows in Southern New England; her favorite travel destination was Lancaster County Pennsylvania where she was surrounded by the products and crafts of the Amish. More recently, Barbara and Richard wintered in South Carolina where she fell in love with Pauley’s Island.
In addition to her beloved husband, Richard, Barbara loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her two children, Kelli (Davenport) Worthington, and her husband, Robert, and daughter, Julianne, of Mansfield, MA and David Davenport and his wife, Jill, and two sons, Adam and Zachary Davenport of Lakeville, MA.
There will be no visiting hours. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
