Alfonso Guarracino of Woburn, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 8, 2017. He was 79 years of age. Alfonso was the beloved husband of Maddalena (Gargano) Guarracino together sharing 55 years of marriage. Born in Albanella, Italy he was one of nine children of the late Guiseppe and Maria (Comunale) Guarracino.
Alfonso was raised and educated in Southern Italy. As a young man he worked in construction for several years in Italy and Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1972 and settling in Woburn. Alfonso was a talented stone mason, who owned and operated the Guarracino Construction Company prior to his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed the outdoors; hunting with friends and family, working around his home, and tending to his garden. Alfonso will fondly be remembered for his thoughtfulness, his love of entertaining, and storytelling. His home was always the center of activity where friends and family were welcome to enjoy a meal, have a cup of espresso, chat and reminisce. However, Alfonso's greatest joy was his family, and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his beloved wife, Alfonso is survived by his devoted daughters; Maria Paone and her husband Vittorio of Tewksbury, Cynthia Tramonte and her husband Mark of Tewksbury, Roberta Butkovich and her husband Chris of Tyngsborough. He was the loving grandfather of Erika and Alessandro Paone, Matthew Tramonte, Gianluca and Massimiliano Butkovich. Cherished brother of Carmine Guarracino of Woburn, Filberto Guarracino of Burlington, Elisa Bastolla of Woburn, Sergio Guarracino of Peabody, Vincenza Frunzo of Woburn, Giacinto Guarracino of Woburn, and the late Elio and Luigi Guarracino. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Wednesday, December 13th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m.. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, from 3 p.m. through 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at West Parish Garden Cemetery, Andover.
