Anne M. (Mansfield) McGonagle, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home in Chelsea. She was 87 years of age.
Anne was born in Boston on September 30, 1930, a daughter of the late Peter Mansfield and Mary (Doherty) Mansfield. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system. Anne worked at Joe's Restaurant on Oliver Street in Boston for 25 years and later for the Everett Housing Authority for 10 years until her retirement. Anne loved watching basketball, playing bingo with her sisters, and going to Foxwoods. She especially enjoyed her quality time that she was able to spend with her grandchildren and her family. Anne's sense of humor and her one liners will be sorely missed by her family.
Anne is the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. McGonagle. She is the devoted mother of Joanne Castro and her husband John, Joe McGonagle and his wife Janet, and the late Patrick McGonagle and his surviving wife Barbara "Barney". She is the loving Nana to Michael, Jaclyn, Jonathan, Daniel and the late Bryan J. McGonagle and to her great-grandchildren Ross, Walter, Danni Jo, and Ryan Anne. She is the beloved sister of the late Peter, John, Michael, Josephine, Helen, Mary, Susan, and Catherine. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Anne's Funeral on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
