Obituary

Connie (73) passed away peacefully at her Back Bay home, with her goddaughter Lisa McNamara by her side. She was a freelance writer, author of numerous books, artist, spiritual advisor, and teacher.

Connie was born in the Pensacola (FL) Naval Hospital during WW2. By the time she was 2, she had lived in four states, putting her on a path of travel for the rest of her life. She graduated from Colby College (Waterville ME) in 1967, followed by a year working in England.

In 1972-3, she lived in The Hague, Netherlands. From there, she traveled widely throughout Europe. This time would provide the basis for writing Fielding’s Guides to Holland, Belgium, and BeNeLux countries in the early 1990s.

Returning to Massachusetts, she settled in Boston. By 1980, she started her career as an independent journalist and author, primarily for travel. She visited dozens of countries over her lifetime.

Connie always loved music and singing. She spent many years with the choir at Trinity Church, Boston, and volunteered as an usher for the Boston Symphony Orchestra for over 25 years.

Connie had a deep inner life and often spoke of her spiritual journey as having been nourished by her extensive travel in the physical world. She studied widely in the metaphysical field, and was both student and teacher of personal awareness workshops. She began channeling and creating art inspired by her connections in the spiritual realm in her early 60s and published two books in the last decade of her life, Wisdom From Beyond and The Most Important Question. She also created her own line of greeting cards with messages of love, peace and joy.

In 2007, she joined First Church, Boston, where she found a spiritual home within Unitarian Universalism and deep friendships. She loved leading her "Awakening to Joy" class over the last two years, offering summer sermons, and leading Adult Learning Community events.

Connie was predeceased by her parents, Robert B. and Harriet (Bebe) Hill. She was their caregiver for the last few years of their lives, calling it a blessing and time of personal growth. Connie is survived by her brothers, Charles (Mary Marvella) of Tucson AZ, and Christopher (Susan Luebbert) of Pittsburgh PA, two nephews, a great nephew, and many cousins. Many cousins were an indispensable source of support and comfort for her during her illness, and the other family members are very grateful to them.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Church, Boston after the holidays.
