Fred G. Lamott, 79, of Milton and Nantucket passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice Center, Milton on December 7, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Sarah (Sally) Folger Lamott: his daughters Sarah F. Lamott and her husband Robert Meuse of Marshfield, and Carolyn Lamott and her husband Stephen Stark of Groton.
He is survived by his 7 grandchildren, Katherine and Sophia Meuse and Abigail, Peter, Caroline, Rebecca and Timothy Stark, his siblings, Mabel (Lamott) Kingdon of ME, Barbara (Lamott) Colanton of Kingston, NH, Sally (Lamott) Forsythe of Peabody, MA and William Lamott of Venice, FL.
Fred was born in Lynn, MA and following graduation from Lynn Voc-Tech Institute joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served in the Army Corps of Engineer and was stationed in Thule, Greenland working on the Nike Missile Site during the height of the Cold War. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army he held many vocations including conductor for B & M railroad and electrician at the Quincy Shipyard before he finally ended his career as an elevator mechanic with Kone Elevator (Local Union 4) retiring in 2002.
Fred enjoyed spending summers in Nantucket in the home he built. He was a man with many talents and hobbies including fishing, gardening, photography, golfing and woodworking. He was a member of the Nantucket Angler Club and loved to share his passion for fishing with his children and grandchildren.
