Obituary

In Boston, December 7, 2017 James V. Brady, Age 84, passed away in Brigham & Women’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. James is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Bettencourt) Brady of Taunton. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Leo & Theresa (Barry) Brady. James was a lifetime resident of Taunton. He served his country during the Korean War honorably in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was employed at the former Paul A. Dever State School as the head baker until his retirement. James was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as its head deacon for over thirty years, a volunteer and also helped anyone who was in need, always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed skiing, playing cards, collecting and dealing in antiques, he enjoyed people and loved spending time and vacationing with his family. James is survived by his children, Jaime Calvey and her husband Charles of Sagamore Beach, Lori Brady of Middletown, N.Y., Cathy Pratt and her husband Alan of East Taunton and Kelly Nardi and her husband Peter of Middleboro. James also leaves his five loving grandchildren and his siblings, Robert Brady and his wife Joan of Taunton, and the late Leo Brady, Theresa Palazesi, Phyllis Smith, William Brady, Jean Campanirio, Paul Brady and Thomas Brady. He also leaves several cousins and nieces and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. Taunton, MA 02780 on Wednesday, December 13th at 9 am. Followed by a service in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 109 Winthrop St. in Taunton at 10 am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
