Obituary

“USMC”Eugene M. "Money" Connolly, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving family at his home in Charlestown on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He was 84 years of age.

Money was born in Boston on April 2, 1933, a son of the late Stephen Connolly and Bridget (O'Keefe) Connolly. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1952. He furthered his education and received an Associates Degree from Newbury Junior College. Money enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on October 1, 1953 and served his country faithfully and with courage during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on September 30, 1956 with the rank of Sergeant. Money worked for over 33 years as a telephone repairman for Western Electric. He was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus and the Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association. Money took great pleasure each time he was able to spend time with each one of his grandchildren and also enjoyed the family times in Marshfield.

Money is the beloved husband of the late Helen M. (McGonagle) Connolly. He is the devoted father of Karen Johnson and her husband Eric, Ann Connolly and her companion Bruce Conley, Kevin Connolly and his wife Robin and Kathleen Foley and her husband Brian. He is the loving Papa to Kevin, Erin, Sara, Ava, Kate and Samantha. He also leaves his beloved dog Seamus. He is the brother of Kathleen "Kay" Sheehan, Stephen Connolly and the late Barbara Mele and Edward Connolly. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Charlie and Mary McGonagle, Leo McGonagle and Mary Devlin and the late Paul McGonagle. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Money's Funeral on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. His visiting hours will be on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
