Obituary

WORCESTER: James E. "Rebel" Adkins, 72, of 27 Freeland St., died Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at Westborough Healthcare Center. His wife of 47 years, Ruth A. (Cote) Adkins, died March 22, 2001.
He leaves seven daughters, Cindy A. Terry of Worcester, Tina L. Hatstat of Weare, NH, Clara J. Santiago, Barbara S. Long, Judy A. Adkins, Brenda L. Adkins and Tammy M. King, all of Worcester; two sons, James R. Adkins of Holliston and Robert L. Adkins of Worcester; two sisters, Ernestine Adkins of Beaumont, TX and Donna Polatakis of Titusville, FL; two brothers, Donald Riley of Princeton, WV and Kenneth Riley of Chesapeake, OH; 22 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Donna R. Adkins of Worcester, died in January of this year.
He was born in Logan, West Virginia and lived in Worcester more than 40 years. His father, Ernest Adkins, his mother, Cinda (Sanders) Riley, his stepfather, James Ray "Jack" Riley, a sister, Shirley Ann Clay and two brothers, Darrell Joe Riley and Charles "Goo" Adkins, all predeceased him.
Rebel worked as a machinist for 10 years at Astro Wire and Cable. He previously worked more than 12 years at Mercury Wire Products. He enjoyed going fishing and playing cards, horseshoes and cribbage.
CALLING HOURS will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
