Barbara Jean (Whitehead) Freeman, 82, Yorktown, died at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born July 31, 1935 in Missouri, the daughter of Winford and Eva (Pelts) Whitehead.
Barbara attended Maple Grove Church of God in Anderson and was a homemaker and a foster parent for 52 years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Fred Freeman of Yorktown whom she married March 5, 1954 in Missouri; six children, Danny Freeman, Tim Freeman, Fred Freeman, III, Eva Gaillard, Ryan Freeman and Sarah Lane; seven grandchildren, Mica, Jeremy, John, Jennifer, Nicholas, Raquel and Charles; many great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Ashley Freeman.
Funeral services will be at noon on Thursday at Maple Grove Church of God with Rev. Steve DeLile officiating. Burial will follow in Yorktown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Maple Grove Church of God.
