TEWKSBURY - Mr. Eugenio Botelho Figueiredo, age 69, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, died unexpectedly Monday morning, December 4, at Lowell General’s Saints Campus.
He was born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, November 30, 1948. He was one of five children of the late Angelo M. and Dealinda B. (Melo) Figueiredo. He emigrated to Brazil with his family at the age of 11. He was raised in Brazil, and emigrated to the Cambridge and Somerville area of Massachusetts in 1980. He lived in Tewksbury for the past eight years.
Eugenio will be remembered for his quick wit, playfulness, up-beat spirit and for “always joking around,” matched by his passion for Soccer and his devotion to his beloved Brazilian Football team, Santos.
He leaves his beloved daughters, Cristiane Monaghan of Andover, Daniela Figueiredo and Simone Souza both of Tewksbury; their mother, his former wife, Marisa A. (Nascimento) Souza; seven devoted grandchildren, Brianna, Ashley, Katelyn, Collin, Nathan, Emily, and Lucas; his brothers, Leo Figueiredo and his wife Rosa, and Angelo Figueiredo and his wife Dora, all of Wilmington; his sister, Margarida Pereira and her husband Carlos of Brazil; a sister-in-law, Eliana Figueiredo of Dracut, the wife of his late brother Antonio; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Friday, Dec. 8, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His funeral will begin Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Williamís Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
