Gerald Armand d’Ablemont II of Boston, MA died Friday, December 1, 2017, at the age of 90 surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Teaneck, NJ, Jerry attended St. Cecilia’s High School in Englewood, N.J. where he played football, coached by Vince Lombardi. At seventeen he joined the U.S. Navy and served as Seaman First Class on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Yorktown which included a tour in the Pacific theater between 1945 and 1946. After the war, Jerry received his Bachelors of Science in Marketing from Seton Hall University. He later graduated from Columbia University with an MBA in Marketing. Jerry spent his career in marketing and sales, working for such companies as NBC, Honeywell, and Polaroid. Later in his career, he became a radio broadcasting consultant.
Jerry was a supportive and encouraging father and grandfather. He was an adoring and devoted husband to his beautiful bride, Martha - the true love of his life of more than 63 years. Jerry had a wonderful curiosity about people, compelled to connect with everyone he met, his inviting wit made everyone he came in contact with feel welcomed and at ease. An avid sports fan, he followed his Sox and Celtics for over 60 years.
In addition to his wife, Martha Lee d’Ablemont, Jerry is survived by his four children: Lauren d. Ragland of Durango, Colorado, Gerald d’Ablemont, III and daughter-in-law Stephanie d’Ablemont of Greenville, SC, Amy d’Ablemont Burnes and son-in-law Ethan d’Ablemont Burnes of Boston, MA, daughter Leslie d. Feeley and son-in-law Steven Feeley of Waxhaw, North Carolina.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren including: Andreas Addison, Gerald d’Ablemont IV, Forrest Ragland, Jack d’Ablemont, Quinn Feeley, Orly Burnes, Devon Feeley, Jasper Burnes, and Ruth Burnes. He is also survived by his brother Eugene d'Ablemont and sister-in-law Mary d’Ablemont of Bronxville NY.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Wellesley on Wed. Dec. 6th from 4-7pm. Funeral Mass in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church 18 Belvidere St. Boston Thur. Dec 7th at 11am. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick.
