Obituary

Harold Ottobrini, of Wellesley and most recently Natick, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2017 at the age of 89 while vacationing in South Carolina.

In addition to his wife Eleanor (Jennings) Ottobrini, he is survived by his daughter Lisa Ganley and her husband Timothy of Orlando, FL and his three beloved granddaughters; Karla, Kendra and Kate.

Harold was a great sportsman and seemed to always be on-the-go enjoying one of his favorite pastimes whether it was skiing, kayaking, sailing, golfing, fishing and traveling. In retirement, Harold took up watercolor painting which he considered to be easy to but it is one of the more difficult art forms. He enjoyed it and became a credible watercolorist of landscapes.

Harold was born in New York City where he became a proud graduate of Stuyvesant High School. He graduated from MIT at the age of 20 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and then continued on to earn a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University in 1950. While at MIT in the fall of 1947, he met Eleanor who was also attending college in the Boston area. They were married in 1951, after Eleanor graduated from Simmons College.

Harold was the Founder and President of a startup company in Providence, RI called Metalized Ceramics Corporation (MetCeram). Metceram, later purchased by the Rosenthal Corporation, developed products which significantly contributed to the success of semiconductor integrated circuit miniaturization. At one time, Metceram was the world's largest supplier of multilayer semiconductor integrated circuit packages and the leading supplier to Texas Instruments for their early calculator and computer package requirements.
