James Edward Parrish, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Monday, December 4, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ed Reeves, Elder Ray Roberts and Rick Bostelman officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Parrish was born July 12, 1942, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Ashley & Lurene Davis Parrish. He lived in the community all of his life and graduated from Irwin County High School. He was a former manager and salesman for Paulk Manufacturing, a rain and hail crop adjuster and later owned and operated Southland Furniture in Ocilla. In 1999, Mr. Parrish became a Gideon and served as President and Area Director. He loved sharing the word of God with everyone. Mr. Parrish was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Moore Parrish of Fitzgerald; his children: Libby Parrish of Quitman , Sheila Parrish Branch of Fitzgerald and Curt (Valerie) Parrish of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Brian (Sherry) Branch, Andy (Sherri) Branch, Shane (Jessica) Griner, Shawna Luke (Jeremy Fowler), Gregory Langston and Chris Parrish; several great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bill (Brenda) Parrish of Wilcox County, Allen (Betty) Parrish of Rhine; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Harold) Hayes of Rochester, Minnesota and nephews: Ronny (Malissa) Parrish of Wilcox County, Wally (Denise) Parrish of Ocilla, Dwain (Courtney) Parrish of Fitzgerald, Terry, Lenora, Laurie, Steve, Jim, Dave, Al and Don Hayes all of Minnesota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, H. Moore; Mother-in-law, Evelyn Sirmans Moore; brother-in-law, Bill Moore; son-in-law, Max Edward Branch and an infant sister.
