Mary Hoaglund Lemieux, 93, of Dartmouth died November 29, 2017 peacefully at Catholic Memorial Home where she was affectionately known as Miss Newport.
She was the wife of the late Donald L. Hoaglund and Thomas H. Lemieux.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Agnes M. (Hession) Goley, she lived in Dartmouth since 1995 and wintered in Florida.
Mrs. Lemieux was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
She was formerly employed as an administrative assistant for several local business including the office of Dr. Robert Moura in New Bedford and later by Blue Cross & Blue Shield for 20 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Lemieux was a creative person who enjoyed painting, ceramics, home decorating, gardening, traveling across the country and most of all attending family gatherings. She was an avid golfer and former member of the Hawthorne Country Club.
She was a graduate of Holy Family High School, class of 1942.
Survivors include a son, Donald Hoaglund, Jr. and his wife Carol of New Bedford; a daughter, Madeline "Mady" Almeida and her husband Alvin of Westport; 7 grandchildren, Joshua Hoaglund, Amy Prigmore, Willow Hoaglund, Luke Almeida, Kate Morris, Teale Hoaglund and Brett Sousa; 5 step-children, Thomas H. Lemieux, Jr. of Westport, Paula Flannery and her husband Michael of Dartmouth, James Lemieux and his companion Mary Fitzgerald of Dartmouth, Andrea Hensler and her husband Steven of Redlands, CA, and Joseph Lemieux of Dartmouth; a sister, Madeline Bolton and her husband David of Dartmouth; 12 great-grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7th at 11 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 6th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720.
