Obituary

Laconia-----Mary Alice Muzzey died on November 25, 2017 at the age of 90. She was born in Lakeport, NH on January 2, 1927 to Edward and Flora (Savage) Lavallee. Mary Alice graduated from Laconia High School in 1945 and Houle’s Beauty Academy the following year.

On March 29,1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Muzzey. They raised 5 children together, moving several times to other parts of the country, but always returning to Laconia. In 1966 they bought their “dream” house on Lake Winnisquam, and lived happily there for nearly 40 years.

Mary Alice was always out-going and involved. She was active in the Lakeport Women’s Club and United Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a secretary in various Laconia schools, at Kellerhaus, and at Laconia Savings Bank, and always loved working, for the people she met and friendships that she formed.Bob and Mary Alice loved traveling, dancing, sailing, and socializing with family and friends.

Grammy was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always there to celebrate their accomplishments and share every holiday. She leaves three sons; Michael and Jennifer of Laconia, Eric and Pam of Cape Coral, Florida, and Tom and Karen of Rochester; and two daughters, April and Jim Whithed in Lancaster, NH and Suzette and Jody Wilson of West Nottingham, NH, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friend, Betty Goss.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert, who died less than a year ago. She continued to have long conversations with him during her stays at Forestview Manor and then Genesis, where she received compassionate and loving care. She was also predeceased by her grandson Jesse Muzzey, and her great-grandson, Easton Jeffrey McGowan.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Beane Conference Center, 35 Blueberry Lane, Laconia, NH.

Burial will be private.
