Obituary

In Taunton, November 25, 2017, Eileen M. Haggerty, Passed away peacefully in her home following a lengthy illness while surrounded by her loving family. Eileen was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late John A. & Dorothy M. (Menice) Haggerty. She was a lifetime resident of Taunton and a 1961 Taunton High School Graduate and a 1964 Graduate of the Taunton Beauty Academy. Eileen was employed at the Raytheon Company for forty years. She was a former president of the former Immaculate Conception Church’s Women’s Guild and member of the St. Jude the Apostle Women’s Guild, a Marian Medal recipient, a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Red Hat Society. Eileen enjoyed gambling, playing bingo, volunteering at her church and the Council on Aging, craft fairs and traveling with her family. The family thanks Dr. Nathaniel Cook and his staff along with Stewart Hospice for their care and support. Eileen is survived by her siblings, John J. Haggerty and his wife Anne of Taunton, Jane Haggerty of Taunton and her late brother Thomas Haggerty and aunts, Margaret Travis of Taunton and Beverly Murphy of East Falmouth. She also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Saturday, December 2nd at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton at 10 am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours on Friday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908
