Harold “Bobby” Johnson, 90, passed away peacefully at the Hermitage Nursing Home. He leaves his sister, Kathleen Wilk of Worcester; a niece, Gail Lehto of Worcester; three nephews, Edward Wilk of Worcester, Steve Soares of Florida and Dr. Bill O’Connor of Holden. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Catherine (O’Connor) Johnson; siblings, Bill O’Connor, Edward Johnson, Shirley Johnson, Marilyn Tonelli and Nila Allen.
He was born in Worcester and graduated from Leicester High School. Bobby was an aircraft mechanic and a crew chief of Wake Island in the Pacific. He loved aviation and had his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Core. Although a bachelor – he was a father figure to all his nieces and nephews including his great niece, Jen. He was a very giving man who was always there for his family. He had a great sense of humor and was very inquisitive about the world around him. Even in his 80’s he could walk for hours and marched up the mountains every fall.
He was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed.
His funeral is Wednesday, November 29th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 AM the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
