Christian A. Andrews, 80, of New Bedford died October 20, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Minnie L. (Conceicao) Andrews.
Born in New Britain, Conn., the son of the late Frank and Marian (Peters) Andrews, he was raised in Marion and lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Andrews was formerly employed as a cook and baker at the Brockton Veterans Administration Hospital for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea and was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Andrews was a lifetime and active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Benjamin Cushing Post 2425 in Marion.
He enjoyed jazz music.
Survivors include 3 sons, Christian A. Andrews, Jr. of Marion, Ronald Andrews of Denver, CO and Anthony Andrews of Chesapeake, VA; 2 daughters, Kim Andrews of Hyde Park and Lee Andrews of New Bedford; a brother, John "Sonny" Andrews of Hilmar, CA; several grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Arthur Fernandes, Ray Andrews, Roy Andrews, Manuel Andrews, Peter Andrews, Mary Barros and Dorothy Spinola.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Saturday, October 22nd at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Friday, October 21st from 4-8 PM.
Interment St. John's Cemetery.
