Pauline F. (Holmes) Deacon, age 93 of Weymouth passed away on Thanksgiving in 2017, her favorite holiday having been born and raised in Plymouth, Mass. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frederick D. Deacon and her eight siblings, Solomon (Maynard) Holmes, Roscoe (Rocky) Holmes, Helen Fortini, Howard Holmes, Carl Holmes, Wendell Holmes, Julia Halunen and Virginia Hathaway. For her entire life she was totally dedicated to all of her family and friends. This was a strong trait of all the Holmes' of Plymouth who were members of America's Greatest Generation.
Polly is survived by her children, Joan H. Aigen and her husband Mark of Norwell, Charles W. Deacon and his wife Barbara of Weymouth and Allen F. Deacon and his wife Joann of Athol. Her seven grand-children and six great-grand-children brought her great joy.
Pauline was a 1942 graduate of Plymouth High. She worked for the Telephone Company as a young woman in Plymouth. She married in 1946 and settled in Weymouth in 1952. She retired from Sears Roebuck Co. after many years of faithful service in Quincy and Braintree.
Polly was a longtime member of Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree. She belonged to Progress Circle and the Red Hat Society.
In retirement, she volunteered at Union Congregational Consignment Shop, enjoyed her cottage on College Pond in Plymouth and trips to Foxwoods and Twin River.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, Dec. 2nd at Union Congregational Church, 74 Commercial St. Braintree, MA. There will be memorial visitation from 10-11am with the service starting immediately at 11am. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations to Norwell VNA and Hospice at 120 Longwater Dr. Norwell, MA 02061 will be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements for Pauline are in the care of C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located in Weymouth, MA.
