STANDISH- Dorothy May Long born August 8, 1943 passed away peacefully in her home with her husband by her side November 25, 2017. She succumbed to a long battle with cancer and is now at peace.
For those who knew Dorothy, Dotty, Dot, Mom, or Nana knew her to be caring and fun, giving and loving, wise beyond her years, and young at heart. She was feisty, and would put you in your place, all the while having your best interest at heart.
Dorothy was first diagnosed with cancer over three years ago, cancer which cost her voice, and complicated her life, yet she continue to fight, and make the best of it. Inspiring those around her, including family, nurses, doctors, and friends. She fought hard until that fighting took away her quality-of-life at which point she chose to meet death on her terms and without fear.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Earl Long Junior, her sons Earl Long III, and Jeffrey Long, Daughter in law Lynn Long, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three brothers, and an abundance of family and friends.
She will forever remain in our hearts, and be dearly missed.
