Omagene “Jean” Rooks Dees, 85, of Tifton passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Legacy Village in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Elder Jim Sandlin officiating. Mike Hasty will offer a eulogy. Mrs. Dees will be laid to rest at Oaky Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 28, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Noah Stephens, Ian Stephens, Carter Brown, Cohen Griffin, Chris Griffin, Adam Davis and Patrick Davis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the staff at Legacy Village in Tifton.
Born March 15, 1932 in Tifton, Mrs. Dees was the daughter of the late Chronice Cromer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Marvin “J. M.” Dees, Sr.; two daughters, Glenda Long and Kathy Eckert; one grandson, James Travis Dees; and two sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Cook County. She loved to cook and to crochet.
Mrs. Dees is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Dees and Larry and Janice Dees, all of Tifton and Keith and Vicki Dees of Chula; one brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Linda Cromer of Jennings, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Latrelle and Sammy McGauley of Jennings, Florida; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dees’ family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Legacy Village in Tifton and Southern Care Hospice for their special care to Mrs. Dees.
