Harold Eugene Blankenship, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, November 25, 2017, at his residence.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Blankenship was born July 8, 1934, in Davin, West Virginia, to the late Gona & Ruth Cline Blankenship. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany between the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Blankenship worked for General Motors as a tool and die man at Delco-Remy in Fitzgerald as well as in Parma, Ohio. He returned to Fitzgerald a year ago from Franklin, West Virginia. Mr. Blankenship was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to watch old Westerns.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie Burgess Blankenship of Fitzgerald; his children and their spouses: Harold Lynn Blankenship & Roxanne of McMinnville, Oregon, Don Blankenship of Lake Milton, Ohio, David Blankenship & Tracey of Plattsburgh, New York, Larry Blankenship & Jeanette of Durham, North Carolina, and Lori Blankenship McDonald & Jason of Fitzgerald; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Eva Mae Reese of Hollywood, Florida and Charlotte Crews of Cleveland, Ohio; and a brother, Ronnie Blankenship & Connie of Surprise, Arizona.
