Antonio M. Sousa Tavares, age 63 of Swansea, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Furnas, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Tome Tavares Pereira and the late Maria do Carmo Sousa Leite, and the beloved husband of Linda M. (Borges) Tavares.
Prior to retiring, Antonio worked as Albin Marine Boat Builders in the fiberglass department. He was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church and a longtime member of the Santa Cecilia Philharmonic Band Club (formerly the Açoriana Band Club) for 34 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters: Nancy M. Vasiliauskas (husband David) of East Providence, RI and Stephanie B. Albernaz (husband Richard) of Swansea; his beloved grandchildren: Emma, Avery, Addison, Analeah & Olivia; three siblings: Jeremias Tavares of Fall River, Natalia Pereira Moniz of Pico, Açores, and Oscar Tavares of Furnas, São Miguel, Açores; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main Street, Fall River on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
