CHICOPEE – Margaret M. (Corley) Ritchie, 85, of Chicopee and a former longtime resident of South Hadley, passed into the Eternal Embrace of the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2017 surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1931, one of eleven children of the late John and Margaret (Gorman) Corley. She was raised in Holyoke and was a graduate of the former Rosary High School. She later lived in South Hadley for many years before moving to Chicopee around 2013. She was a longtime communicant and a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Kenneth C. Ritchie who was Called Home on June 7, 1994. She leaves her five loving children, Ellen M. Miele and her husband, Donald, Karen A. Droy and her husband, Mark, Barbara J. Opoka and her husband, Edward, James K. Ritchie and his wife, Sally, and David S. Ritchie and his wife, Jacqueline; her nine cherished grandchildren; her three cherished great-grandchildren; her dear sister, Teresa Giardina; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and numerous friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her nine dear brothers and sisters. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday morning, November 28, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (the parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery, 226 Granby Road, South Hadley, MA 01075.
