John A. Moriarty, 67, of Manchester, died peacefully October 19, 2005 at the Elliot Hospital.
He was born in Manchester on May 19, 1938, the son of James L. and Mildred (Sullivan) Moriarty. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School, class of 1956. He served in the US Air Force.
Prior to retirement, he was a dedicated employee for 37 years at New England Telephone and Telegraph and a serving Union member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Moriarty held memberships in the American Legion, Henry J. Sweeney Post #2 and Post 79, The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Fr. William J. Shanahan Division I, and the Ukrainian Club. He met and married his elementary school sweetheart and his life-long friend, Joan Mary Bagwell in 1960. He was a proud father of three daughters, treasured his Irish heritage, and was delighted by his Moriarty roots. He enjoyed attending his grandsons' sporting events and spending time at his daughter's home on the coast. Most recently, he was able to fulfill his last wish and partake in a Moriarty Clan gathering in Killarney, Ireland. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan M. (Bagwell) Moriarty in 1996 and his brother, James M. Moriarty, in 2001.
Members of his family include three daughters, Kerry Ginnard of Manchester, Maureen Murphy of Manchester, and Patricia Moriarty of Hampton; three grandsons, John Ginnard, Shane Murphy, and Brian Murphy; nephews and nieces.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Pius X Church on Saturday October 22, 2005. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
