Margaret A. (Violandi) Doherty 82, of Franklin, died peacefully, Wednesday November 22, 2017 at Milford Regional Medical Center, following an illness. She was the beloved wife of John J. Doherty.
Born February 19, 1935 in Boston, a daughter of the late Louis and Regina (Helinski) Violandi, she was a resident of Franklin for the past 58 years.
She was raised and educated in the West Roxbury section of Boston, and until her retirement several years ago, worked as the office manager for Franklin Sheet Metal.
Margaret enjoyed boating and her many trips to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Block Island, she made many friends in the boating community in Westport, MA. Margaret also treasured family vacations and reading.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by her children, Kathleen M. Asselin and her husband David of Columbia, South Carolina, John M. Doherty of Boston, Susan M. Calkins and her husband Charles of North Carolina and Joseph M. Doherty and his wife Lisa of Taunton, a brother Ralph Violandi of Weymouth.
Also surviving are cherished grandchildren, Kimberly, Jeffrey, Victoria, Nicholas and Abigail.
She was the mother of the late Stephen M. Doherty and sister of the late Robert Violandi.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Sunday Nov. 26th at 3PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Her interment will be held privately.
Calling hours are Sunday from 12-3PM.
