Mr. Richard J. Guillemette, of Taunton, entered into rest unexpectedly Monday, November 20 at his residence. He was born 81 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Adelard and Delia (LaFrance) Guillemette. He was educated in Taunton and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Richard had been employed as a Police Officer for the former Paul A. Dever State School in Taunton. He was also employed as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the City of Taunton, and served as a Constable for 28 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the early Vietnam Era as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate, and later as a Military Policeman in the 772nd Military Police Co. of the Mass. National Guard. He was a member of the Chester A. Bearse Post #405, American Legion of Raynham, and of the Korean War Veterans Assoc. of Taunton. Richard enjoyed playing guitar and listening to country and western music. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish.
He leaves: 3 stepdaughters: Diane Wilhelm of No. Attleboro, Donna Boutin of Jacksonville, Fla., and Nancy Waters of So. Attleboro; 3 brothers: Henry and Adelard Guillemette, both of Taunton, and Roger Guillemette of No. Dighton; 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his former wife, Gloria (Fischbach) Guillemette. Richard was also the brother of the late Alfred, Leo, Roland, Albert, Normand, and Norman Guillemette, Irene Machado, Jeannette Arguin, Lorraine, Lillian, Florence, Laura and Rita Guillemette.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, November 27 at 11:30 A.M. Interment will follow in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
